These plugs are an option you need to have available to you at the surf. They have a huge advantage over other styles of baits due to the variability of retrieves you can have with this bait. In my opinion the hydro minnows are better than the daiwa sp minnows. The hydro minnow has a much better weight transfer system and are slightly heavier than the sp minnows. The hydro minnows also come with superior split rings and hooks. They cost a dollar or two more than the daiwa minnows but the extra casting distance and better hardware makes the differece to me (also better paint finishes). If you fish the surf for bigger gamefish that will attack a 6-7 inch plug you need to put a few of these plugs in your bag.
